AHHHHH!

Six years ago, 2 newly engaged couples packed up 2 tents and more camping equipment than they could have used in a month, and headed off to Silver Lake State Campground for a weekend in the sun and Sand Dunes! The couples had so much fun that they vowed to make it a "tradition", and do the same trip every year...
This past weekend was our fifth year on this camping trip with Chris' long-time best bud, Rick and his wife, Laura. We missed last year because we both had young babies at home and decided it would be best to take a year off, but this year we were right back at it feeling like we hadn't missed a year!
We packed up and headed out on Friday morning, rented a pontoon and spent the day on Silver Lake on Saturday, and came home Sunday. It's just such a great time and there's something about life long friendships (such as Chris and Rick's) that is so refreshing. Laura and I had barely known each other when we took that first camping trip, but over the years we developed a fun, easy friendship, mostly built on making fun of our husband's and the way they still act like they're 12 when they get together.
We laugh A LOT, eat A TON, and enjoy the sweetness of friendship and tradition that God has granted us. We first decided when I was pregnant with Levi, and they weren't having babies yet, that no kids could go on the trip until the youngest one was 5 years old...then we decided this year that no kids can come on the trip ... EVER!! This weekend is built around tradition, we try to keep as many traditions on our trip as possible, and kids would break most of them. We may just have to add another getaway to our summer, so that we can go as families!
Here are a few pictures of our getaway adventure!

Girls can climb big sand hills too! That's me on the left, Laura on the right.

Rick, Laura and I at our campsite...we don't really "rough it"!

That's awesome! Looks like a lot of fun! I'm totally taking you up on that Friday thing! BTW, Marc just came in from the garage and said he found the hummer charger! I miss your realness! You are a good friend! :)
